Weathered Eleganceby K-RobComment: very appropriate subject for the challenge - just a tinge soft, but I like the tonality and composition. |

literallyby rhipsterComment: Seems like a stark arrangement. Looks good on my monitor - plain and minimal but with excellent tonality and clean whites. Vignette seems a dash too evident, Meets the challenge, snow is white, and says so in the title - but I belive it without the title. Curious as one of my favorites in this challenge, for abstract qualities - especially for how I see the question of a background handled, a required specification. Viewed as a snow drift detail, which is what I assume it is, it has little or none. In this the subject is background. Viewed as an abstract field, still the brightest whites seem to protrude, do not flatten or recede. Litterally as light or lumens or wattage on white, it functions. Still the subject texture, as subliminal as it is - moves. The idea has potential. The workmanship and design is good. |

I Am My Work -- the Thorn that Weeps, & Holds the Sky Entire...by Bear_MusicComment: Representing yourself as how you see rather than how you perceive yourself to physically be seen is certainly a valid self portrait idea. This self-portrait, to me, surely illustrates that what we choose to represent in a work of art, is or can be perceived as a reflection of ourselves. It is a primary and relevant idea, undoubtedly in a generic way done every week in any challenge. This photo is nice, but the question "does it meet the challenge" is entirely up to the voter. It is a shame that this fine picture was voted so low and so much weight given to an absolute definition. Message edited by author 2008-12-31 22:44:12. |

blkby GeocideComment: A striking profile, in repose - but not resting.. Appears an awkward position, but composition really works. Beautiful simplicity. |
