Guarding the Bootsby neophyteComment: *Critique Club Comment*
First Impression of this photo is this is a cute pet portrait. Composition wise i think the crop is a bit too tight across the back as you have cut the dogs tail off. I like that the dogs eyes are looking up at me. But the dog seems to be competing with the boots for attention.
Your choice of background was a good for the neutral color but i think a more canvas type of material would have been a better choice for this type of shot because the material is stiffer and less likely for the dog to move easily, even on a truck bed. also less likely for the edge of your BG to slide down into your photo like it did here in the upper right of the photo. The B&W for this was an excellent choice. lighting is good to me. looks like you might have made a "light tent" over the truck. Excellent job here.the slightly blown highlights might be from the contrast/brightness processing. great focus on the boots but a bigger DOF would have made both the boots and the dogs eyes in perfect focus. only two other nit picks for this is make sure your subjects face(sleep below the dogs left eye) and paws(dirty paw print on bottom right of photo) are clean as these can be a distraction too.
If you've got any questions about this critique, please feel free to contact me via the PM system. thanks~~Cher~~:o) |

My old painting trainersby CaineComment: * *Critique Club Comment*
Composition is very well done but the black(pants?)and paint spots on the left are a big distraction from the shoe. I do like the lighting on the shoe.great use if natural light here as the shadows created the interest here and didnt make it "just another shoe photo" this is a nice image with the B&W tones but I think it would have had more impact and WOW factor if it had been left in color and allowed the paint to create the "wow" to this image. your focus is good but i think a round of sharpening in post processing would have helped.Excellent job and keep up the good work. have a great day :o)
If you have any questions feel pree to PM me and i will help any way i can. |

Alone in the Nightby CutterComment: this is simply a stunning shot! love how the clouds look like they are comming from the man himself! I think i would try to burn the upper left light streak as it is a bit of a distraction from the scene as a whole for me. super job! :o) |
