This could of been a great b&w. But, the whites are too blown the blacks are too black. A good b&w needs texture in the hightlights and shadows.

The picture itself is good. I get emotional value from the ump. If however I did not see any facial expressions, then the emotional value would be lost.

This is a great b&w.The highlights are just a bit blown, and the blacks could use a tweeking, but overall nice levels.

The thing is, it has no emotional value. The face of the begger would of done this, however, he is turned away from the camera. If I had seen his face, than the story would of been complete, as it is, I don't feel anything.

This is a good effort. However, the highlights are too blown. The blacks are too black. In a good b&w you need texture within your highlights and shadows.

In sports, this is a nice attempt. Some things to remember when shooting sports is the following, have action, get facial expressions, crop tight if possible, don't cut off limbs if possible, don't have lines going through players in the bg, don't have advertisement, make sure the pix is tack sharp, and finally (in this picture) have the ball in frame.

I gave you a high score, 8, on this piece.

It is an example, IMO, and in my experience, of how a picture is taken to the next level.

No, it's not pretty, and sparkley.

It does give a mood. It tells a story within the frame itself. The blacks and whites are good, the lighting is a little flat, the 'A' looks cut out, the blood is too thick (ketchup?? try corn syrup and red, green, and blue food coloring), great comp, good movement.

Remember, emotion captivates the viewer, and an artist knows how to captivate.

Nice attempt, and under rated.

If the blades were cropped out, I would of been convinced. But, as it is, I do not see an abstract, I see a tight shot.

Definition 1= Art that departs significantly from natural appearances. Forms are modified or changed to varying degrees in order to emphasize certain qualities or content. Recognizable references to original appearances may be slight. The term is also used to describe art that is nonrepresentational.

Definition 2=Not realistic, though the intention is often based on an actual subject, place, or feeling. Pure abstracion can be interpreted as any art in which the depiction of real objects has been entirely discarded and whose aesthetic content is expressed in a formal pattern or structure of shapes, lines and colors. When the representation of real objects is completely absent, such art may be called non-objective.

I like the color, excellent comp, good lines, great light, good texture, good flow, overall a great pix, but not for this challenge

I am not convinced of abstract. I am convinced that it is impressionistic, even witht the motion/ blur fx. Excellent movement, I like the "ghostly" lines, nice flow, good comp, interesting color, overall an interesting piece.
