Lovely. Photos of instruments crop up in challenges with considerable regularity because wooden instruments can be quite beautiful. Rarely is the treatment quite so inspired as this one. The lighting through miniblinds creates wonderful textures on top of the wood. There is a kind of complex visual conversation going on between these instruments that deftly parallels the musical conversations between the musicians for which the photo is named. Extraordinary

I love the glowing light. The shot is well framed ( no pun intended.) There is a bit of a sense of clutter to the photo that makes it harder to comprehend.

I love this simple presentation. Were the challenge something other than 'wood,' I suppose I would assert that the blankness of the left side overbalances the more interesting right.

Nice use of a mirror. The subject is beautifully lit, framed, and photographed. The weedy backdrop, gratefully, has been cropped right and bottom. And the darkness of the grotto makes the frame stand out well. The left side ot the photo seems too tangled and full of distracting detail to quite work. One wonders whether this photo would not work better taken in fading, cloudy or misty daylight where the shadows are very gentle. Then the lighting might have been managed to de-emphasize the tangle of weeds near the left margin. Perhaps lower light would also allow DOF manipulation more favorable to this goal.

A lovely shot of a very attractive door. It's skillfully framed, nicely lit, perfectly exposed.

Beautiful. It was an inspired choice to give us a clue in blurry form what it is we are looking at.

There are some wonderful things about this photo. Technically it is flawless. The stucco and the textures of the two doors and ladder are all quite beautiful. The items hanging from the ladder are beautiful also. And the blue folded tarps contrast and balance the aqua door nicely. The plates on the wall, IMO, ruin a good photo. They start a new and very different story, one that relates to the hanging food. And those of us who are easily attracted by food, by stories of food, or even photos of plates depicting food, will find ourselves wandering right out of the picture. To us, the subject is not in the photo at all. Sometimes that's the effect one wants, but I don't think this is one of them. Still, I like the shot.

Great textures and great color palette. I love the light and the way the steps curve away into darkness. It strikes me as an inspired choice to place the subject so near the edge of the photo.

The composition and framing are inspired; the lighting is exquisite; the very deep DOF is perfect. Super

This is a very beautiful bit of wood - great choice of subject. I would have liked to see a litle more of it in focus - especially the highlights.
