Out of the Shadowsby scalvertComment: Originally posted by MattO: Originally posted by scalvert: Actually, the editing was nearly Basic-legal. The leopard was really coming out of her den, so the background was already black and the head and paw were brighter. We've validated breakout frames before. |
I am referring to the cutout that needed done as well as the drop shadow on the foot. Unless the Den was white as the border is, I'd say a cutout needed done, which isn't basic or advanced legal. Care to post the unedited as shot original? |
This is one of my favorites from recent memory. I was really torn as to whether the border was legal or not though. 'add a border to the outside edge of your entry. Your border must be distinct and clearly recognizable as a border." and
"YOU MAY NOT use ANY editing technique to create new image area, objects or features (such as lens flare or motion) that didn't already exist in your original capture(s)."
This is brilliant work, but it does feel like the border became an integral part of the picture (new object/feature). |

The Warmth of Incubationby hahn23Comment: I am incredibly jealous. A wonderful opportunity, wonderfully shot.
Is this handheld or tripod-based? I see this is at 1/60th with a 400mm lens. I can't imagine her being patient and trusting enough to let you set up a tripod, but I can't imagine getting this crisp a shot at that speed without it.

Downtownby BuddyBaumComment: I had to look at this for a while to realize you shot from behind he fountain. It looks like the fountain jets are in the river.
I think you would be happier with a shot from the river walk, as you get the lights reflecting off the water. I might also suggest cropping to lose more of the sky, as the key to this shot is the lights of the city. |

In-Flight Snackby scooter97Comment: I would love to know how much of a crop this is. I have been shooting hummingbirds this spring, and haven't been able to get close enough to get one this sharp.
Well done. |
