DSC_0192by lwphotographyComment: Best of the close ups, crown not cropped, good angle on face to viewer, stronger composition within the frame (not being centred) and nice clean background with good lighting on subject. |

DSC_0217.jpgby lwphotographyComment: Lighting reasonable, nice background bokeh, of the closeup shots this is my 2nd favourite one as feathered crown not cropped out and nice shape of neck included. Doesn't seem pin sharp though. Message edited by author 2005-06-16 05:18:22. |

DSC_0236by lwphotographyComment: Nice composition, especially as feathered crown has not been partially cropped as in other images. Good detail in feathers. Nice bokeh background. Slightly too dark overall. |

DSC_0241by lwphotographyComment: Nice lighting, lovely bokeh in the background and reasonably sharp. Composition too central. Same picture but with bird to left of frame would be stronger. |

Entangledby CutterComment: GREAT image in terms of colour, detail and composition but some HORRENDOUS halos along the some of those edges... Message edited by author 2005-06-14 17:04:11. |

Nurtureby LevTComment: I have an image of the same name in my portfolio which is also of a parent bird feeding their chick. This is a nice example of behaviour but doesn't work for me on a visual level. The dark beaks don't show up well against the dark breast of the adult. The foreground colour competes for attention with the subject. The composition isn't particularly attention grabbing. But I do like the subject matter. |

Duck Family at Sunsetby mahobbesComment: Noisy and soft. Horizon very central making for a very heavy feeling composition. Nice idea and nice colour to the sky but quality and composition of image not quite strong enough. |

Kiss for Houdiniby joyinlightComment: Absolutely great detail on the bird - I can see the feathers so clearly, and wonderful colour too. I really don't like the artificial way that the focus has been taken away from the person holding and kissing the bird at all though. Also, I don't like the way that the background seems to have been painted over with yellow and orange. There are also some strange artifacts in that yellow and orange area on the left. |

Morning Doveby woodseyComment: Diagonal is interesting but doesn't save this from being too static and too uninteresting an image. The detail is nice, it's good that you have that eye detail too. I think the grass being in the same plane as the bird and therefore in focus definitely doesn't help make the bird pop out. |

Great Horned Owl (Bubo virginianus)by SailingduckComment: That eye really is something isn't it? Such a strong focal point. Somehow it's position within the frame doesn't feel quite right - almost centred yet not centred. There seems to be some blowout in the whites which is a shame but not too bad. |
