Hypnotic spinby naomikComment: Intriguing and a clever use of selective desat (so overused on DPC but here, perfect for the subject matter). Nice lighting too. |

Ring of Fire by NazgulComment: Wow, nicely done - good lassoo technique to achieve that wonderfully accurate circle and great lighting too - the man and the texture of the surface he is standing on our nice and clear against that white ring. There seems to be quite a strong red halo around him, is that an artifact of the light or long exposure? I don't know much about long exposure, hence my asking it as a question. |

Underneathby samtrundleComment: You may not have decided whether you like it but I have - I want to reach out and touch it - that's gotta be good in a challenge on textures, surely? :o) |

Meditationby vasilkovayaComment: Absolutely beautiful light halos around their bodies - just brings out the detail of their fur beautifully. The fact that they have their backs to us and one has such an animated pose makes it almost impossible not to anthropomorphise and imagine two friends chatting excitedly about life. The pure black background works well to isolate the two individuals. 9 |

Madame Butterflyby Patents4uComment: What a beautiful image with such perfect depth of field and such exquisite detail in that narrow field. Wonderful composition, lovely backdrop. 10 |

Grasping Freeby aznymComment: I love that there are two distinct stories of independence in this image in the young child and the loved-up couple. Only problem is that there is so much going on in the background that the foreground loses some of it's impact. A really shallow DOF might have made this less of an issue. 7 |

I Can Fly Anywhere! Wheeeeeeeby typologicComment: Great composition, wonderful contrast of dragonfly colours and background colours. Wish it were a touch sharper though I can understand why that might not be the case. Flight definitely speaks of independence to me. 8 |

keys to the back roadby aplomb76Comment: Just love this. Incredible how much you can convey with such a simple and everyday pair of items. Nicely composed. Plain white background works quite well. Like the sharpnes of detail on the mud on the front toe but blurriness everywhere else. That lace laying to the right just makes the composition. 9 |

Droolby doctornickComment: Nicely captured. Good composition though feels a touch too tight at right compared to left for me. The face is so close to centre that it might as well BE centered. Nice diagonal with the bough. Great colour of light though shadows a touch strong in the eyes (no detail) and on the body. Nice DOF choice leading to blurred background. |

Escaping The Ordinaryby annahComment: With the exception of the lack of detail in the sky I really like this a whole lot. I love the fact that these two individuals are sitting together - like an intimate escape together from the rest of the world. It reminds me of travelling (which I adore) and of romance (which I adore too) and of the beauty of the earth (oh yes, I adore that too). Nice in black and white. 8 |
