To Andre Kertesz; an appreciationby e301Comment: This image stood out to me when I browsed the entries during voting but I didn't have time to comment then and forgot to come back to it. What a delight to find it's another one of yours... I'm becoming rather a fan! This really is one of my top 3 in this challenge, indeed one of my favourites for a while. |

heron landing by coolharComment: Lovely dynamic motion, nice detail, lovely light in the eye, shallow DOF isolating subject from background perfectly - this is a wonderful capture - bet you're very pleased with it. |

Mockingbirdby novaComment: Nice capture and I particularly like your composition. That use of negative space above works well and I do like that lone branch thrusting in from the left. Nice detail in the bird and the catchlight in the eye is just right. |

Goldfinchby BoffComment: Nice capture and good choice on DOF. Lack of light in the eye lets this down a touch for me. |

Ring-tailed Lemurby ioComment: Lovely light really brings out those eyes and they really are a draw aren't they? Nice detail, nice close crop. Works well. |

Over My Shoulderby adineComment: Nice one! Like the curve that perch provides (is it a fence/ gate?) and the off-centred composition works well. Good detail in the back feathers but the DOF is too shallow for my tastes here as the tailfeathers and face aren't quite as sharp as the back. Backdrop contrasts well with foreground, which is good. |

Footholdby basicentryComment: I like the burst of colour that the bright yellow corn provides. Nice composition, good lighting with nice catchlight in the eye. Shallow DOF works well to blur background and isolate subject. |

Vibrant Freedomby CutterComment: Lovely light and detail on the bird but it's pose, facing away like that, doesn't work so well for me, though I do appreciate that one can see the eye, which is important. Lovely colour in the sky too. |

Eye to eyeby AranchaComment: I love Crowned Cranes! Lovely lighting really brings out the eye and the crown too. Shallow DOF works well to isolate the bird against the background. Nice detail in the feathers too. |

A Florida Boardwalk Denizen - White Ibisby olddjComment: Nice composition using curve of beak as a diagonal in the frame. Too much blowout on the details in the feathers I think but nice light in theeye and nice background contrast to foreground. |
