Big Babyby Jon_HComment: That is very funny. Something about his pout just makes it all click together. |

cigarsby bspurgeonComment: Haha! You got me! I was waiting for the picture to finish loading, to finish resolving itself, and realized that I'd be waiting a long time. It's Art Nouveau, but as seen by Joyce's Stephen Dedalus after a few nice Guinnesses. |

IMG_5163by GilesComment: It's a really nice shot, if a wee bit enthusiastically Nik'd. But I have also found the very same extreme 'Nikking' hard to resist in my own stuff. I'm just now learning to back it off a notch or two, for greater durability at the cost of a quieter initial impact.
Giles you take some really thoughtful and original pictures. I know you have said you're unconvinced about some of the weirdness that a few folks celebrate here at DPC, but I reckon that you are yourself one of those weird folks. You just haven't fully realised it yet. Alas, when you do catch it properly, I'm afraid there is no cure.
Please post more stuff to this thread. Cheers.

Brothersby pambComment: It's easy (for me anyway) to dismiss cat shots without giving them a fair go. But this is far too good to dismiss out of hand. A beautifully executed photograph. Thank you. Message edited by author 2012-02-13 05:00:05. |

Brocklebank - Liverpoolby Jon_HComment: Didn't King Kenny just pay ten million pounds for a midfielder called Brocklebank? Or am I thinking of two different blokes entirely.
He might be wanting a new striker soon! |

little fishesby salmiakkiComment: Sharp is a ... (you know the rest).
It's a lovely picture and with the basket appearing in shot I can't not think of Manna, of loaves & fishes. And considering where you took this shot, it really is, isn't it? Cám on. Message edited by author 2012-02-13 04:58:14. |

Barristerby PaulComment: These are pretty good, considering you were handicapped with a digital camera :)
OK, seriously. They are pretty good, you know. I know this is a new venture for you, but I also know that you are not unaware of the touchstones of classic street photography. And both these pictures (the other is here) have the right stuff. This one with the titular reference, and the other with the little girl. I have no doubt that your experiment in the street genre will be a great success because you have the two essentials for street success ... a discriminating eye, and a sense of humour. I'll be looking forward very much to seeing more.
Oh, and P.S...
Gallery shots are indeed a recognised sub-set of street, but now you have to go outside & get wet & cold. And abused. It's in the rules, I'm afraid. |
