This reminds me of someone else, not Winogrand. But I'm not sure who that someone else is. Could well be you!
I like the strange detachment of the girl, heightened by the fact that none of the other people are paying her, or you, or me, the slightest attention. It's not a great street photograph, but it's a good one, and has some genuine interest. 7. Thank you.

I like the untold stories here. The empty stools, the backs turned behind the counter, and the terrific lady with the quizzical look. Doesn't seem confrontational enough to ring the Winogrand bell, but he probably wouldn't care about that so why should anyone else? I enjoyed this picture. 7. Thank you.

Hard to not like this, so I didn't even try. It's a very good candid portrait, though it's not much of a Winogrand street tribute. Not that that matters much; quite a few of Winogrand's own pics didn't look much like his stuff either. Here the main character is obviously the homme in the beret, but the other bloke plays a significant role too. He's pictured and rendered in an understated way, but the photograph would be diminished without him. 7. Thank you.

I'm admiring this for all sorts of reasons; exposure, point of view, framing, tension, and more. Then I though how important that something superficially minor can turn out to be. I refer to the water spots on the ground in the foreground â€Â¦ the photograph would be diminished without this enchanted confetti. And it does also recall a Tom Waits performance art piece â€Â¦ was it 'Chocolate Jesus'?

Best of the top ten, easily. It's the only one that isn't dimished by the chopped heads, the only one that's coherent and complete as presented. Thank you.

Sublime. The childhood self is the more distinct for a very good reason. Mine is too. Top pick and 10. Thank you.

Bewitching thing, no clear end points, just some anchors dragging a little on the tide. Top three. 9. Thank you.

Sophisticated concept, beautifully realised. The ages flow back and forth. Top three. 9. Thank you.

Simply the best. Cannot look at this without starting to sketch in details not seen in this moment. You know the "picture is worth a thousand words" saying? It's almost never true; most pictures are barely worth a sentence. But this one is worth a hundred thousand words: I imagine it as the cover of a novel, and I want to read it. Or write it. Thank you.
