Clampby MikeOComment: Processing treatment is very dramatic & makes it look like a Commandment (11th). Which I guess it is. Only moderately interesting to me, but great technical photograph. 7 |

Choicesby e301Comment: Well this is very, very impressive. A meticulous composition, it quietly extracts every possible artistic contribution from the lines of the buildings, the road, the street lighting, and the sparse but critical "props" (I even like the rubbish bag, if that's what it is). And of course the road signage is central to the motivation of the image and to its title, without being too in-your-face about it. Subtle and intelligent, this photograph can stand (and reward) several minutes' study, which is a clear measure of its strength. My top pick. 10. |

The Long Crossingby docpjvComment: A very clever idea, effortlessly executed. Sure sign of an imaginative and confident photographer. Absolutely no suggestions for improvement. Top three for me. 9. |

Good advice by BrennanOBComment: Great composition gives the sign tremendous presence; it's a critical part of the image, not just a sign in a picture. Very nice quality photography & processing, too. 8. |

Pull Overby TelehubbieComment: Nahhh. C'mon, 'fess up. This couldn't be the real thing. But it's an idea worth a 7 anyway. |

Aperture by ZoomdakComment: This is very impressive and deceptively simple. It's a nice scene, which most of us might have dressed up with a strolling or pensive figure in silhouette. A clever few might have thought to make the figure a photographer, perhaps even with a tripod, to more fully embrace this challenge subject. But the spread (human) legs were a rare inspiration, and lift this image way above the usual sunrise/sunset shot. Great work. 9
Second opinion: My prediction for blue ribbon (could be the kiss of death; my top picks usually finish back in the pack!) |

Rain Coming by e301Comment: This is a harmonious scene, nicely composed and photographed. For me, it captures not just the look and light of the imminent rain, but also suggests the feel and even the smell of it. Highly evocative is what it is. 7 |

Crescentby JackoComment: Technically very good, and of course its challenge related qualities are excellent. Maybe the starburst effect is a tiny bit overdone? But no, maybe it's just right. There are a few small distractions visible in some of the dimples ... manufacturing irregularities? Try switching to the Titleist Pro VI; great distance and nice smooth dimples. Score 7 |

The Feather Danceby aKiwiComment: I can't decide how you've done it. Is it just camera motion? Whatever, it's technically very good, and visually startling. And it satisfies the challenge well. Having said all that, it triggers no emotions or even thoughts (other than, "How'd he/she do that?"). Lots of style but not much substance is what this image says to me. Of course, that could be my problem, not yours! 6 |

A touch of lightby TirpitzComment: This is an elegant composition. I especially like the extension of the lines of the model's pose down through the left hand & left foot. And the light is of course very effective. I think I'd have like it better with something visible in addition to the model, to provide some context (she seems like she's floating in ink, to me). However, no doubt you'd feel that a prop would compromise the purity of your image. And you'd probably be right. 7 |
