This is interesting. You're going to get some "pity about the chain" comments, I guess. But of course it is the presence & placement of that chain (especially in relation to the eye) that lifts this image from the merely good to the excellent. If you also receive any "pity about the bit of stuff stuck in her hair" comments, don't scream ... smile. 7

Outstanding depiction of a child's tentative discovery of independence. The ankle deep exploration, the slightly giddy pose, and the thoughtful composition (shallows below the diagonal & the deep above), make this an effective metaphoric as well as literal depiction of independence. 9

My favourite among the "car keys" shots. I remember my similar moment only too well ... a woman ran into the back of dad's car at a stoplight! This is a nice composition, perfect DOF for the purpose. Good job. 8

Lovely ephemeral feel to this scene & it works so well with your excellent title, especially since any tracks made here are soon washed away (ephemeral again!) Very nice composition, processed with restraint and maturity. 9

Nice. A grownup interpretation of independence; flags may wave and golden eagles may soar, but the one real and lasting font of independence is from within ... self knowledge. This is a great visualisation of this eternal truth. 10

Congratulations Kelly. Yet another of your intuitively brilliant ideas and images. And she's a blonde, too!

That is a great family photograph. I'd love to know what this guy has just said (or done) to earn this 80% disapproval rating from the other family members. Whatever it was, he's marvellously unrepentant. He doesn't even care about the selective desaturation (and nor do I). Terrific work. 8

You've nailed the title with this image (& vice-versa). The expression in little sister's eye says total trust to me. Well done. 7

Charming portrait; I like the loving smiles, but it's the shoes, the bag and the umbrella that really make this image. First glance ... a good, candid family portrait. But look a few moments longer & you appreciate that this is a very clever, subtle work of high quality. I hope the voters give you the few extra seconds consideration that you deserve! 9
