Beautiful coffee colours. The shapes are suggestive of a path and very comforting. The heavier masses on each side fold together smoothly, and the lighter, nearly invisible shapes seen between them beckon the viewer. The whole effect is of an invitation. I like it. 7.

My Only Regret

This is interesting. The lighting (including the lack of it) is theatrical, and suggests that this is a stage performance. I expect to see the man begin a soliloquy raking over the coals of his life.

Beneath all that is another interpretation, triggered by the self-congratulatory posters. How to turn 2 cents worth of coffee beans at the Guatemalan grower's end into two bucks worth of coffee at the regretful man's end. The shadowy figure in the corner is no doubt Mr Businessman, counting the beans. 9.

This is interesting. Not just a standard class photograph ... it has a strange ecclesiastical feel to it. The fact that the massed body of the students forms an echo of their own flag (twice!) is another elevating element. 7.

This is an immensely clever photograph; a photograph that is both of something and about that same thing. Sort of documentary and editorial at the same time. Alas it will likely be pitifully underestimated. 9.

airplane detail

This is nice. I'm a flier & airplane buff myself & try as I might I can't figure out what aircraft this is. It's a tailplane detail I guess, but it actually puts me in mind of something maritime instead. Anyway, it's a piece of art; both the structure & your photograph of it. 7.

There's a lovely 1960s quality about this, as if Helena is a movie star of that era who turned out to be far too good and complex for the movie industry's subsequent slide into superficiality and banality. A very fine portrait. 7.
