bluegreen no. 2by EstimatedEyesComment: Quite beautiful. It's a seascape and a landscape, but there's no point at which one becomes the other. 9. |

Arrakisby quiet_observationComment: Yes, that looks about right. I see a giant hieroglyph, scratched into the planetary surface. Beautiful amalgam of tone, texture and color in this image. There's just enough of everything; not too much of anything. It's lovely. 9. |

Roentgen's Wingsby ImagineerComment: If only I had wings
Wings as white as yours
Up into the sky
I'd surely fly
Well thank you. I knew nothing of Hyde and the Roentgen Stories until I saw this and went where it took me. Beautiful photograph too. 9. |

leaving you behindby skewsmeComment: The best brown ever, surely? I thought it was quite lovely. I had wondered if my score of 9 was unreasonably niggardly. Alas, it was. |

Its all Jazz to me!by ikopanasComment: It seems to be an exposure of 50 years as much as it does of 1 second. I especially admire the fact that the movement blur is so subtle, and yet so appropriate to the essence of the subject. A tremendously thoughtful and original photograph with several levels of reward for the viewer prepared to make the effort. 10. And the Order of the Thumb:

Cutaway to Abstractionby pointandshootComment: This is just wonderful. A brilliant ragoût of certainty and uncertainty; the explicit and implicit; tone, texture and graphic grace. And I use the culinary allusion advisedly, because this image has all the balance and inspired fusion of a modern-classic dish. Undertones and overtones in absolute harmony. And it's also a perfect natural diptych, just for a bonus (and presumably to prompt some dismal soul to request validation ... Bah!).
I'd give it a 12 if that score were available. Alas, 10's my limit. Plus the Order of the Thumb:

Harmonyby KenComment: A lovely composition that exploits the extended exposure in a subtle and thoughtful way. The title is well chosen for the effect. 9. |

Ethanol Refineryby pncowleyComment: This is a very interesting photograph, probably because it has a strange Space Station feel to it. Isolated by the darkness, I guess. I've tried a few similar night-time shots myself, and never managed this kind of superb result. 8. |
