'\by bspurgeonComment: I can't believe anyone could see this as a work car park shot, when it's so unequivocally, so classically, a school playground shot. I'd go so far as to cite it as the neo-seminal school playground shot. Astounding. |

vow of silenceby jagarComment: It's superb. Also very instructive: how to find the photograph, rather than merely the subject. Most photographers would have seen this as a vertical format picture. I'd likely have seen it square. But you saw it primarily as a photograph, not as a subject or a portrait, and so you made it horizontal. Which is ironic, given the fact of his silence, because it's the format that gives the picture voice. The presence of the pillar of darkness on the quiet side of the picture, which many sad souls might say was 'distracting' and had nothing to do with the portrait, actually IS the portrait. It IS a picture of darkness and light, both literally and figuratively, and that could not have happened any other way but yours. One of the few really good, enduring pictures at DPC. Thank you. |

On the Roadby Yo_SpiffComment: I can't imagine that Jack pictured a bloke on a bike to accompany his ramblings, but I'm glad that you did. It's a strangely absorbing photograph. I'd even like it without the bloke on the bike. Maybe more. 7 & thank you. |

The Universe Belowby SunnyHillsCirComment: Interesting that something so repellent, so strident, could look so beautiful. It's a weirdly pleasing picture. 7 & thank you. |
