Simple and elegant. It strikes me that the bowl is probably supposed to be white and therefore the color balance is off, or maybe I'm just wishing for a white bowl to help separate the apple from the background. Either way - overall this is a great shot. Good luck in the challenge.

Now this is the coolest idea ever. I might have cropped out whatever is in the lower left corner, and I wish this had better focus and white balance. Lastly, the background reflected in the mirror is cluttered. But don't take all that as negative, because I'd love to see this re-shot with the mirror reflecting a black background and some different lighting. Hmm, I'm still looking at this shot because I'm trying to figure out how it was done. Well, you've inspired me. I can't give it a super score because of the technical details, but I really liked it!

Good use of DOF here. Unfortunately, the lines on the calendar days are leading the eyes to the blurry background rather than the focal point. Also, you might have considered cropping out the bottom of the calendar in the lower right corner. Lastly, the apple with the bite out of it has noticable spots and doesn't look as yummy as some of the ones in the background. This was a very creative idea and was well-titled. Good luck in the challenge.
