Good composition. I'm not a fan of the border, but I really like the shadow.

Good capture of facial expression. Based on the lighting, it looks like the focal point is on the chest? IMO, this shot would be stronger if it were cropped from the neck up - her facial expression is more interesting than her necklace.

I can see you put some time and effort into this. It's really hard for people to hold still enough to shoot in very low light - you might try a fast shutter speed and then bring up the midtones during post-processing. Unfortunately, this shot is not in as sharp of a focus as some of the others in the challenge. It also looks like there is some digital noise on the sweatshirt. Overall, this is a decent idea that suffers from too many technical deficiencies to score very highly.

The background is a bit distracting with the wrinkles and everything. I'm sorry, but this just doesn't hold a ton of visual appeal for me. I guess I'm not seeing very dramatic lighting going on. The shot seems poorly focused, and has a predictable composition and perspective. What you might try next time is to bring the subject well in front of the background and use depth of field to emphasize your focal point. Another thing you might try is shooting the subject from an unusual angle.

Hope this helps!

Good capture of facial expression. It's a personal opinion, but in portraits like these I like it when the eyes are in the top third of the frame.

This shot would be stronger if it were in better focus.

Intriguing facial expression. Unfortunately, the lines on whatever that is in the background are very distracting. Generally it is good to have the subject well in front of the background and use DOF to emphasize the focal point. In addition, a diffusing filter might have helped with the skin tones. Overall, this is a decent shot. Good luck in the challenge.

I had to look at this twice for several minutes each to figure out that it was a glass of something (beer? wine?). I like the silhouette/backlighting, but feel this image would be stronger if it included more midtones so every element was more easily identifiable. Overall, it's a decent shot. Good luck in the challenge!
