Dream Forestby vasilkovayaComment: To get the impressionist effect, instead of camera shake, you can also try defocusing the lens with a large aperture setting (If your equipment allows manual focusing, that is). This technique, in my opinion, produces a much more effective "impression", although it takes a bit of practice, since if you don't defocus enough, it's just a blurry picture, and if you defocus too much, there's no impression left. Additionally, overcast weather is usually better for woodland pictures. On sunny days like this -particularly when the sun is high up in the sky-, the contrast range becomes quite difficult, if not downright impossible, to cope with. Shooting into the sun very early in the morning is another technique for producing dream-like woodland images. |

Mount Olympusby dsidwellComment: The type of landscape that appeals to me the most; multi-layered scene shot preferably from a relatively low angle/point of view with interesting foreground elements, dimensions of which are sometimes exagerrated by the use of wide-angle lens, and good DoF, which gives the image a 3-dimensional feel. I just wish that the middle layer (land between foreground rocks and the distant mountains) had more light/detail so that I could "travel" across the scene savoring every step instead of jumping from the rocks directly to the mountains. That's to say that the picture somewhat falls short of its full potential, in my opinion. Good work nevertheless. |

Closerby eckoeComment: Good idea for an abstract. However, focus seems totally off and the grey strip on the lefthand side is a major distraction, in my opinion. |

Waldo's Peakby ankurlahotiComment: I like the idea and the composition in general. However, the picture looks to me somewhat over-processed (too much tweaking of levels and/or curves maybe?), thus a bit unnatural. |

One More Mileby SkipComment: Don't you hate the dull winter skies? A different angle -if possible- or crop which excludes the sky might have been better, in my opinion. |

Autumn Leavesby simbambaComment: I believe that if the picture is about the leaves -as the title implies- then the horse has no business in it and there should be a lot more leaves and they should be in focus. But the horse is actually a lot more interesting subject, in my opinion, and if I were to take such a picture, I would zoom in on it a bit closer and try to get some leaves at the top and the righthand side of the frame, if possible, as a nice, little frame. |

Proud Member of the Class of 2004by AmiYuyComment: I like shallow dof myself at the right time and place. However, when the main subject is in focus on one end and blurred to oblivion on the other, it does not look right, in my opinion. |

Home on the Rangeby lumbardhComment: In general, I don't have anything against borders but in this particular case it ruins the picture in my opinion. Other than that, this picture is, although very simple, actually quite appealing. |

Handsby kinksComment: Except for the nipple (or whatever it is) sticking out from behind the arm, I like the picture. Additionally, if I may nitpick, there are only one hand and quite a large part of the whole body in sight whereas the title is "Hands". |
