Dog at the Beachby anmldocComment: Don't worry about playing by the rules to make a good picture, this is a great photo in my opinion.
The DOF is on the sand just in front of the dog - its working for the photo in that the texture is the main immediate focus. You have GRIT and a lot of it. THEN you see the dog, looking slightly menacing (one eye, matted fur?) or maybe playfull (flying sand, wet fur?)- but your not given enough information because of the crop. This makes it interesting in creating a sense of "Whats really going on here?". It has the same curiosity inducing effect on the viewer as a knowing smile on a portrait with no outside explanations given. I found myself looking for MORE in the photo. Trying to pick out more details from the background to make more sense.
So, played by all the "rules". No, and it worked out wonderfully. :) |

underwater Christmasby KronusComment: Its dark, its moody, its sparkly dark vampire-mermaid land kind of good. I like it a lot, yet... an explanation of why completely eludes me. Very very nice. Favoriting. |

177533.jpgby Art RoflmaoComment: Oh! The DOF works incredibly well here, you kept a lot of the hairy texture in focus with making the bee look too overwhelming. Good job. |

Los Dos Amigosby GermaineComment: I really like the use of blue tones here. Its cool, but the composition and subject matter is comfortable without being too cozy. The small splashes of color really work to bring out the textures even in the glowy atmosphere. Excellent.

Put your hands upby igoofryComment: HAHAHAHA! For some reason, the fact that she shorter than the window and that floppy hate makes this very funny. It only needs a rule of thirds cropping to make it "not a snapshot". Cute, very very cute... |

Three Amigosby ArpeggioAngelComment: Something about this shot is calling for a really dramatic and daring crop (pull right in and center it) and a bold dark thick border to make the colors pop. Its a neat flower picture, but it lacks a impact as it is. Nice capture of the colors, and an interesting composition for the flowers. |

titmouse, tuftedby jorrComment: Hmmm... I'm going to guess that the grain wasnt intentional, but theres no data to give me a hint where you went wrong. Aside from that issue, The expression and the eye contact are wonderfull. |
