Hello from the critique club

An appealing image that meets the challenge well.

This is a lovely mono nude made sensual by the lovely lighting. The dark shadows are for me what really gives the shape of your body its sensual appeal, lovely. But, you’ll have to count me in on the oil filter haters, like one of your commenters, initially I thought it was jpeg artefacts, it really detracts from an otherwise beautiful study. I’m sure you would have finished much higher without it, other than that a really lovely study well executed Susanâ€Â¦

Wow GinTay very nicely done, you’ve certainly cropped close but this works so well because you have something extraordinary and unique here. By focussing on the wing you are able to show us the intricate delicate detail of the wing whilst keeping the insect itself in soft focus, this makes for a marvellous perspective that is so out of keeping with the ‘normal’ approach, I like it a lot. Congratulations for such a well deserved result and ribbon for such a wonderful image, thank you for sharing.

Nicely done Marcel. This is a lovely strong graphical image with bold colours and good composition. Technically everything is good, accurate focus and DOF against a nice plain background with the fork very nicely lit and contrasted against the bold red of the fruit and blending in nicely with the background. The seeds break up the foreground nicely too, all in all a very pleasing result, well done.

I like your high viewpoint and the diagonal you have chosen to shoot it from it makes for a more dynamic image. The wash indicates that the boat is travelling at some speed again helping the dynamic tension. There are a couple of things that let it down for me, 1, the vignetting in the corners and 2, it feels over-saturated. Its possible that these are the genuine colours but if that is the case I would have been tempted to apply a little desalt to make it look more natural. Thanks for your entry Manic.

Wow, that must have been some adrenaline rush! Excellent timing to capture the boat in that position it has real impact and makes the image unique. Its surprising what even the smallest speck of red has in an image its such a strong vibrant colour. Apart from the tremendous action there is also the scene itself which could only be in Iceland, you lucky people you, I’m not really jealous am I! Anyway, congratulations Benedikt, a well deserved ribbonâ€Â¦

Hello from the critique club

An interesting image that meets the challenge well.

A simple image that conveys a feeling of loneliness and isolation but more than that it portrays the stress that results from the pressure school children are subjected to at this time of year with all their exams. I like your low level viewpoint and shallow DOF to isolate the person and their belongings it works well. I don̢۪t know if it was posed or an opportunist moment, nevertheless it still gets the message over, well done Marcel

Hello from the critique club

An interesting image that meets the challenge fully.

Congratulations for your well deserved ribbon Susan, fully justified. What a great comic strip, I like the theme and the execution it certainly has a Hitchcock feel, particularly the last frame, the mono presentation also adds melodrama to the end result. I love the second frame and the graphics, all done to perfection well done Susan.

Great composition Marcel, well captured. The diagonal is what makes this work so well and filling the frame as you have it fulfils the brief completely. I like the reflections on the underside of the plane it adds an intriguing touch to the end result. Everything is in good sharp focus, all in all an excellent result both in score and position well done Marcel.

I love your viewpoint Susan well chosen, it makes for an original image. I also love the long exposure it makes the image much more dynamic and engaging. Although the desat is necessary for the challenge the sepia toning works well. All the technical stuff is well chosen and effective. Don̢۪t suppose there̢۪s any of that delicious sounding ice cream left?

A phenomenal skyscape, very nicely captured Marcel. I like the near mono effect with very subtle colour tones at the bottom the frame. The composition is good with the heavy emphasis necessary for this dramatic sky. The only comment I would make is that I would have preferred a natural scene without the huge light poles and housing. The diagonals of the suns rays are very pleasing and nicely contrasted, well done Marcel
