Don't Just Lie There, Mom!

Don't Just Lie There, Mom!
by cloudsme

Comment:
Absolutely incredible photo. No apologies needed.

The juxtaposition between what most viewers saw (a very beautiful female body) and what the boy sees ("Mom!") is shown perfectly here. It's almost as if he's looking at me saying "What are you staring at everybody? It's just my Mom!" You're right, the placement of the hands makes this point even better. I feel sorry for those that couldn't understand it and projected their own sexuality on a little boy.

You are very insightful to have seen this photo and been able to share it with us (especially because you're so close to the subjects)...great work!

Hey Joey...I can tell that you're smart. And if you're really 15 then I can't wait to see what you do over the years.

I'll make sure to bump into you in 10 years or so and see what you're up to. Keep it up.

this is fantastic, good work! i know you couldn't help it, but the background is distracting on this photograph. the only thing that might have helped that is f/1.8...maybe a bit more. i look forward to seeing the exif for this one. good work, though! beautiful...

nice border, great composition, fantastic photo! this is beautiful, it really is! the yellow flowers (lilys, i guess) are the perfect touch.

there are two things this photo needed to get a 10. first, a little more contrast...second, a little bit of sharpening.

great work! you should be very proud of this one!

Edit: bumping to a 9, this is really nice...not even sure about the need for more contrast, perhaps sharpening would do the trick. good luck!

Seeking a Perch

Comment:
are you kidding me? did you collaborate with god on this one? "ok, god...you direct the seagull to the perch, and just as he crosses by open up the clouds and allow a shaft of light through...okay? ....go!"

anyway, neat shot. it's near perfect...perfect would include the seagull being in the shaft of light as well as the perch. they're both sooooo close, which is sometimes a negative because it makes me want to see it in a slightly different way. also, one last thing...i really feel that the bottom should be cropped a little more. it would give you the more conventional aspect ratio, but more importantly, my eye wouldn't be lead out of the photo - right now it goes from the shaft of light, to the seagull, over to the perch and then follows the light down and out of the frame. if you crop up to the third "wave" from the bottom, my eye will go from the shaft of light, to the seagull, to the perch/light on the water and back around the frame. i hope i'm making at least a little bit of sense..just a little.
anyway, great work, nice patience! beautiful. i think you get a 9, 10 with the right crop.

cute...i've seen this type of photo so many times (sunflower composed like the sun on a horizon with the blue sky background) but i can't let familiarity take away from the beauty here.
i'm not sure if it was intentional, but this photo has a very 'soft' feel to it. the beautiful texture from the centre of the flower is missing, the focus seems soft on the petals and the sky is a subdued blue...none of this is bad, it brings a slightly different element to it than the other versions of this shot that i've seen. i'll assume that this was done on purpose and vote accordingly...nice work!

There's Nothing Quite As Beautiful As The Correct Use Of Grama

i wish the title would have been as subtle as the photograph, but i'm not too worried about it. this is great. the colours are so amazing, especially against the lifeless sky behind and grass/garbage in front. the power lines and tree on the left are the only elements that rob from the simplicity of this photo...perhaps you had not other option in this urban environment but to include them. nice work overall, i love it...it really is beautiful! it's great that you saw the beauty there!

i'd like to see this in b&w...in this photo, the greens aren't all that flattering and the colours are fairly dull, but the lines and texture could have been the focus in a monotone version. i also would have cropped the top right where that branch bends back down. overall, i think i would have cropped a little tighter on the left and right as well. it really does look like a beautiful spot!

neat, nice work. i think that if this was a 15s exposure, it should have been about half of that and then some work in toning to bring out the clouds. i think one stop down would have saved the highlights of the moon, it's reflection and the lanterns or whatever on the boardwalk. good work though, nice eye...
