A coat of paint won't fix this... by Ja-9Comment: this works, but could use a little more finesse on the post-processing (check the shadow spread on the antenna and the hallowing on the roof lines). could possibly have used a little less foreground, but all the same, nice find. |

some good days by jmritzComment: i get the idea, but not really the feeling of abandonment. composition is a bit disjointed, as well. |

Fall Practiceby GeneralEComment: yes, sports. yes, in focus and properly exposed. compelling? interesting? visually appealing? eh, not really...
ask yourself: is there any other way you could have approached this opportunity that could have resulted in an interesting, compelling image? most likely. it's ok to grab a safety, documentary shot, but that's not what's going to capture the votes.
one of the most important things to do is to be aware of your backgrounds. do the best you can to avoid or mitigate background clutter that can distract your viewers. isolate your subjects.
and, whenever possible, shoot the verb. try to visualize this. if you had moved down to the line the kids were on and gotten slightly out in front, just enough to see down the line. and then you waited until they were all throwing. now *that* would have been a shot!
all the same, keep on clicking! hope you're having fun with it! |

Future Proby CyrildaComment: you're heading in the right direction, but i imagine you're a little frustrated. this image has everything going for it except for image quality - and there's not much you can do about that without spending money on a fast, long lens. if you're not sure, trying renting one. it's obvious that you are pushing your gear as far as it will go and sometimes you have to bite the bullet to move yourself along.
as for the image, ordinarily i advocate for a lower than eye-level perspective, but this is ok here. i'd still suggest trying a lower perspective next time you get a chance, either sitting or laying on the ground. |

Ready to Rollby colorcarnivalComment: killer. absolutely.
unfortunately, probably way too subtle for this crowd. don't let the scores get you. you just keep doing what you're doing and have fun with it. |
