Anchorby drewmediaComment: Wow--this is one of my favorites. Shallow depth-of-field was a wise choice in this situation. This wide-angle macro shot really exaggerates the size of the chain and makes the viewer wonder how big it really is. The surface rust provides an interesting texture and contrast in color. Very artistic, and technically strong as well. Great job! *9* -balynch |

She Sells Sea Shellsby KarenBComment: This is an excellent example of what makes a good B&W photo. Everything is tack-sharp and the detail in the starfish is stunning. *8* -balynch |

Arion aterby UberFishComment: The subject matter in this photograph does not appeal to me, but it fits the idea of texture very well. Technically, the main subject is sharp and the background is nicely out of focus. The exposure is also correct. One thing that hurts the quality, however, is the JPEG compression artifacts. The picture is only 44K in file size and the rules allow up to 150K. Saving this picture at a higher JPEG quality level would have improved the detail. *5* -balynch |

gemstonesby mcmurmaComment: This photograph has nice color, but texture doesn't seem to be a primary element. Technically, the focus is sharp and the exposure is correct. This picture does not do anything for me artistically though. However, this would have made a great entry for the "Transparency" challenge. *4* -balynch |
