| 07/09/2005 09:08:49 AM | in her gardenby jmritzComment: Well done...I think this is the first that I have come accross where the background - always extremely out of focus in macro shots - is well suited for the subject. It is a bit spooky due to the strong shadows on the face. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 07/09/2005 08:57:17 AM | The 203rd Flowerby cpickettComment: I like the dark processing here, but I am a bit odd. Honestly, I wonder about the choice of processing since it isn't something you would normally see in a flower shot - I mean it's harsh, contrasty, and black&white. Certainly a bold choice. As far as cropping goes, I think a closer cut would be nice, so as to eliminate some of the extra space on the sides. For the most part, I do like this shot, despite my grumblings. Good luck in the challenge and happy shooting. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 07/01/2005 05:03:35 PM | Natural Form.by GeocideComment: I like this...it is a bit freaky since your back looks like it is smiling at me in a very menacing way, but all in all, it's a cool shot. The tones are great. I don't like your subject almost looks pasted onto the background, but it does add a bit of depth to the shot. And, while the back is cool, the fingers are the most interesting part to me. I don't see strong leading lines, but all the same, this is...cool. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 07/01/2005 04:57:33 PM | The End Of The Pathby Mr_PantsComment: Considering that the composition of this shot is basically centered, I would have liked to see you more centered in the patch for taking the shot. You did line up over a mortar joint, but you are one joint off in my opinion. Basically, if you want something to be centered, make sure it is centered, otherwise everyone will notice, even if just barely off. If you want something to be off, make it enough of a break from center that people will know it was done purposefully...sorry to rant about this. I do like the central idea of your shot, and I think it is mostly well executed. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 07/01/2005 03:25:54 PM | Surrealby xcharrierComment: I like how the lines here seem to point to the curves of this woman's body, which contrast well with the straight lines of the railing and the bench. I'm kind of confused by your title, but that doesn't matter. The rotation of the shot is a little unusual to me, but that's up to you, really. Not bad at all. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 07/01/2005 03:22:35 PM | The End Is the Beginning Is the Endby DiscraftComment: The lighting here creates an unsettling feeling for me, and I have to say that your depth of field is rather astonishing. Considering the challenge topic, I would expect to see something that my eyes are being led toward, say a person or an object, but I know that your intention was to lead my eye towards the indeterminate end of this catwalk, which seemingly goes on forever. This is a good interpetation of the challenge, all in all. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 06/30/2005 01:33:50 PM | Stay in line and keep climbingby trishComment: Nice depth of feild, slightly palid colors, though. I would like to see a slightly different angle here where we are looking at the top of the snails, rather than the underside. All in all, not at all a bad photo, actually quite good for this challenge. 7. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 06/29/2005 06:29:54 PM | Dinnerby fstopopenComment: Well seen...I like the feel of this shot. Nice and candid, and the morning light is spot-on for this. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 06/29/2005 06:28:34 PM | Girl Interruptingby e301Comment: Fan-frickin'-tabulous! I don't care if you set this up, I'm almost sure that you did. I like the contrasty tones and the excellent composition. About the only thing I don't like are the girl's shoes...hmmm...who cares about that though, really. Good luck and have a good day. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 06/29/2005 06:24:41 PM | Replaced by the Tucsonby jbsmithanaComment: Very well seen and shot. This is a textbook example, in my mind (is their any other?), of leading lines, and I think this should do well. Aside from the visible lines obviously shown in the image, there are more abstract lines of connection from one boat to the next, of which you were obviously aware...hey, it's in your title. I hope this does well, as it would give me more faith in the community here on the whole. It doesn't have a tweaked sky (seemingly), no heavy dodging/burning (apparently), and just gets us back to a more simple and pure type of photography (hopefully). Good luck. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
