Deadwoodby FotoMunkiComment: The noise is nice in this shot, and the muted colors seem to fit your mood. My only complaint is that the noise and color have caused a reduction in the detail of the tree branches, which seems detrimental to the subject. |

In The Beginning...by jrjrComment: I think this shot has more grain than any other I've seen in the challenge so far. For that, congratulations. It is a push beyond the norm, and that doesn't mean that the shot doesn't work. I think that the noise here is a bit strong considering the subject, but that doesn't mean that this amount of noise would be bad given another subject. Since the noise makes this scene more harsh, it is in contrast to the soft colors and lines of the sunset. Maybe that is a good contrast...I can't say for sure. This does provide a very painted feel to the shot, and the loss of detail is fine for that. While I don't expect this shot to do well in the realm of this challenge, that does not mean that it is a bad shot or a bad style. It is just different. And, in so doing, it has held my attention, and I'm sure that of a few others, for a good while - which is more than 99% of the other photos in the challenge can say. |

Louisiana Lifeby sherComment: Very cool. I like how you can see the grain here without it being distracting. It adds to the feel and makes this seem more like a painting than a photo. |

Desolation by Joey LawrenceComment: If this doesn't win, I'm sure something else will. Anyway...this is a good shot. The graininess isn't overpowering but evident enough to be effective. Overall the shot is dark but this doesn't result in a detrimental loss of detail. The mood that I'm sure you were working to achieve is achieved admirably. Well done...something tells me we will all be seeing this shot for the next week or so. |

Horses love grainby BrennanOBComment: Nice shot...iffy title. The high contrast and grittiness are very complementary here to your idea, and I think it is an effective shot. Very painterly...definately more artistic than the shot straight from the camera, I'm sure. |

By the time I win a ribbon...by TammerComment: Wow, you must be really tiny or live around some HUGE oak trees. Anyway, I like the idea and the tonal quality of your shot. I think it may be a bit longer before you get your ribbon, but all in all, it is a memorable shot, and that is really more important anyway. |

Grainy B&Wby JHComment: On of the more creative entries, I think. Also, I like the overall feel and minimalism of the shot. |

Timeless Cathedralby redmoonComment: Cool deal...I like how the grain and glow really play off of each other here...quite dreamy. |

Swiss Egg?by rwaudioComment: This is an impressive subject, but I think the photo itself could have been better. All in all, the photo seems flat and a tad dim. Still, that is one impressive egg. |
