Which one to choose?by Geo_GriffinComment: Nice Idea for the challenge. Your colors and focus are great but the shadows are harsh. You have somethings that are distracting to me. You photograph leads my eyes to the glass [thats good] but the class has a lot of reflections with is distracting [thats bad]. Plus it looks like some dust particles on the class that catches my attention. Base and background good but where you photograph lacks is the glass [dust, reflections] and the hard light coming from the left. High Average 5. Good luck in the challenge. |

Take a new pathby daveitComment: Not to clean of a photograph. What I mean by that is there seems to be to much artifacts in the snow, path, and road. Giving a good example, the road, look on the right top power point of the top third or the rule of thirds. In case I didn't explain myself well that's where the first third line horizontally and the third line vertically intersect. It looks like a snake in the road? I think a neater picture would of served better. I think a colored version would of worked better. |

To Spend More Time with My Sonby agrimaceComment: A very good new years resolution to have, we need more parents like that. Now to your photograph. It looks like a snapshot with very little planning. I would of picked a different setting to take the shot with a less distracting background and maybe include yourself in the picture to potray more emotion. Your subject has a very vivid light source that causes burnout on the right side of the face and neck along with a portion of the color. Other than that Good focus and color. Love the red hair/auburn hair. 5 |

To Get In Shapeby longlivenyhcComment: Your photograph meet the challenge but I don't think your photograph is above average. I think it is because your lines leads my eyes of the image. And the subject is not interesting in its current POV. You did a good job of focus in the Top-Left power point of the rule of thirds but if I was to take the title along with the challenge away from this photograph, it could not stand on it's on. Good luck in the challenge and I wish you well. |

burn more caloriesby hopperComment: I like your unique approach to the challenge. It is very creative. Have you ever played the game where you have a picture or two and you have to guess what it means? Well you picture is kind of like that because it stands on it's own and that is very important. Without title or challenge it would not be hard to guess what the meaning of this photograph is. Technically you did a great job. I just wish the fire on the left was not as blown out. The fire on the right is great. I would have to say this is one of the best pictures in this challenge I have came across. Keep up the good work and best of luck in the challenge. SDW |

Time to lose the Gutby bruskiComment: A good natural shot that depicts a new years resolution for millions. However the bright light behind take away from your picture. It distorts the arms and torso. The purple hue around the hands is very distracting and your composition leads my eyes off the bottom of the picture instead of locking them on your midsection where the subject is looking. I think if this picture would of been taken from a different POV it would of been better. I'm not a fan of blowout highlights and that takes up the majority of the picture. Good luck in the challenge. |

Wheels of steamby DaRkYeComment: Very nice image. I like the close up of the engine wheels it gives it a very mechanical look and a focal point. I like your choice of B&W and your POV. Great DOF and what I really like about this shot is even with outdoor [sun] lighting your highlights are not blown out, they are very smooth and eye appealing making the shadows interesting. Great Job 8! |

Reflections on Manby KylieComment: Very nice capture, I noticed the face as soon as I viewed. Great job of meeting the challenge. Great focus, lighting, color and I really like the crop. Normally the reflections would of distracted me but in this case I think it makes the picture stronger especially with the title. Great Job 9! |

Ebenezer CorkScrooge by scalvertComment: You have taken a common subject and made it meet the challenge while making it eye catching. Great focus, interesting background texture, Great use of light, colors and composition. I would have to say one of the best I have seen thus far. Great shot 9! |
