Tower Bridgeby redmoonComment: You chose a wonderful subject for your entry. I think the composition is excellent and framed very well with a pleasing perspective. A couple of comments...Slightly overexposed evidenced by loss of highlights nearby the lights. Other comment is that the depth of focus appears to be too shallow evidenced by loss of focus in the background, and particularly the far tower. Not sure what type of camera you are using, and perhaps the DOF is not easily adjustable. The exposure could have been reduced with a faster shutter, smaller aperture (increasing DOF as well), decreased exposure compensation, or decreased ISO sensitivity. |

Golden Gateby C-town driverComment: A wonderful day to shoot the bridge. I was in SF this week and it was only rainy and cloudy. :(
Love the sky and the saturation of colors in the water. This belongs on a postcard. |

Pride of London by ImagineerComment: I think you hit the exposure on this shot perfectly. This is simply elegant. The levels on the bridge, water, sky, and buildings are all very well balanced. So clear, sharp, and focused. |

Moonrise Over Stonehenge by EddyGComment: I am speechless. This is absolutely stunning and an instant winner in my book. I am interested in hearing your story for this shot. What strikes me most is the clarity of the moon set against the background of clouds. Did you boost the levels of the clouds to bring out more of the shadow details?
I think the position in the sky as well as the centered composition really works well here. |

Grand Rivers Lighthouseby parrotheadComment: I think the lighthouse was artistically composed. A technical detail which makes this photograph unacceptable to me is obvious cloning evident along the right edge nearby the edge of the railing around the lighthouse. I suggest examining the image at 300% and with boosted levels to carefully screen for such imperfections.
Edit: The spot in question is just to the right of the bright railing. There is a circular artifact which may represent a stray healing/cloning brush stroke which I'm sure was inadvertently placed. The artifact is about 40 or so pixels in diameter. Very subtle but on my LCD screen it really pops out.
Otherwise I feel the image is exposed nicely with good sharp focus. The reflection off the water is also a nice touch. On second thought, this deserves a bump up in score. :) |
