Lemon Delightby rkligmanComment: I am relieved that this isn't just another lemon shot. Nice composition. I want the pie to look either more perfect, or more messed up. It is kinda middle of the road. The lemon meringue pie that I remember (I haven't seen it in ages) has a filling that looks like glass when you cut it. It is a bias that isn't fair so I am not going to let it impact my vote. But I want, desperately for some reason, to see that glasslike image...6 |

The Yellow Lightby ryceComment: The concept for this shot is brilliant in its simplicity. The noise is actually a good choice, but it is too much and shades of orange on the door lower the quality, but I love the mysterious feeling of this photo, making it a fascinating enigma. A great mind is at work here. Risky and daring...8 |

In Memoryby marboComment: The compostion: the flowers angled toward the left, indicating the past and memory, the epitaph in the background fading off the frame are strong composition basics, nicely done. The mums (think that is what they are called) which are grey are a shadow of a weakness in the photo. Their color should work because they pick up the grey of the wood in the background, but the flowers just look too healthy to be grey. The green foliage looks a little wilted. Too bad those mums looks so darn healthy. Nice shot. Well thought out. It also would have been nice if the celophane were a solid color or just clear without the circles. They are distracting. I am being very picky, but this photo is so very close to hitting the mark. Your potential shines through in the basic elements of this photo. The tiny details that I mention are just that, tiny details. Great shot...8 |

The Ugly Duckling?by SkipComment: This just plain makes me feel good. It made me smile, and I still have a stupid smile on my face. Thanks for sharing the fun stuff, too. |

A splash of color to burn off the coastal fog!by BethanComment: Oh, I like this. The dramatic light and shadow work well for me. I want the image to be tipped closer to square. With the extreme light and shadow, the house being slightly askew makes it a bit too disorientating and distracts rather than enhances. Brilliant colors. |

Yellow Roseby NusbaumComment: Lemons and roses. It is hard for one shot of either subject to rise above the others. I like this image, and it is elegant and technically very nice; however, I would encourage you to take a risk next time. You have the skills, now step a bit closer to the edge. Grab us and get our attention with your daring. |

Towel Headby alanfreedComment: Good shot. I think it would transcend if the subject were showing either elation or frustration in reaction to the play on the field. That is what makes crowd shots at sports events rise above the mundane. There is so much power in human emotion. Technically very nice. |

Post-itby MarkComment: Hey...wait...is this the humor challenge? No? Not only is this shot captivating and fun, but you also capture emotion and a sense of michief in the eyes of your subject. Too cool... an 8...easy. |

Line Up Everyone, It's Shopping Timeby rmtm333Comment: It took a while. I thought at first that these were the starting gates at a horse track -(when you think about it, it actually is a good parallel.) Nice use of line and motif. The repeated curves punctuated by the black circles and showcased by the little bit of snow gives some punch to this image. What store has yellow shopping carts? |
