Secret Cabinby MontereykiddoComment: Ah the Whaler's cabin at Point Lobos...(I got inlaws who docent there) anyways this is a pretty cool angle. I might have dropped back a little further to include more of the ground in the foreground and a tad less sky above the cabin. The pic looks quite smooth from, I'm assuming, the use of neat image or a NR program. Almost too smooth for me. This is a very good shot that might have worked better in high contrast b/w giving a sense of age. |

he is my comfortby bruskiComment: Nice, clean and sharp photo. The crop and b/w work well here. I gave this pretty high marks.
A close in crop and highly shrap shot such as this draws the viewer in to study the photo more closely. The more I study the more distracting the young lady's hair (about 3 strands) in front of the cat's face becomes. Still an excellent shot. |

Mama's gonna buy you...by basia03Comment: This is a very busy picture...a tough one to shoot through the cage. It appears that you may have used the on board flash highlighting almost everything in the scene. I might have tried somehow to put a single spot light on the bird which would have lightened the childs face enough to give it a different mood, of course lower light would mean it would require a tripod of sturdy surface for a clear shot.
It might have been easier to possibly have the childs hand reaching into the cage and getting the shot from that angle through the door. |

Mt. Soledadby rkligmanComment: Whew...Almost went and shot this one myself...never made it over there though. Nice shot and I like the colors you got going on, looks like an early morning outing. The soft gradient of the sky gives this a nice feel but I would like to see the cross just a tad bit sharper. Great shot of an endangered landmark. |

Country Sunrise by BradComment: Congrats again Brad excellent job, nice effect and colors...
...you won't get one like this in Julian today with all that snow and all. It is a beautiful place and I still got a bit of that pie in my fridge from last weekend.

Dozen meals for a buckby ArnarpComment: Wow this is the way I was thinking of going myself...nothing says modern day poverty like top ramen (24 for a dollar noodles). I actually did not enter as I could not get it just right.
With poverty I think we want to depress the viewer right off. I think this would have done better if it were done in b/w with more light through out and some grain (use a high ISO to noise it up a little). Maybe actually have a pot of water on the stove coming to a boil (a little steam rising) and the noodles next to it half open and part peeking out the end of the bad.
Neat Idea just a little too bright (on pot and noodles) and colorful for poverty. I lower angle might have worked a little better as well.
I was actually trying to pull off the last Ramen (bare cuppard) on the self but it just did work out right. |

Bang! -- Sore Loserby graphicfunkComment: This has got to be my favorite in the challenge. Great idea excellent execution. This would be a great stock photo. Almost too perfect as absolutly nothing is moving in the shot, black background, two pieces still on the board... I still like it. |
