Well you certainly found a way to meet the challenge. Reminds me of the riddle: "what is the lowest uninteresting number?" To whatever number is the response, the response of the riddle is "now isn't that interesting." Neverthe less, lovely composition and lighting. I do not know whether I would have liked to see the refractions in the drops more clearly or not.

The back drop could be moved further back to avoid the shadow, which I believe detracts rather than adds to the picture. The effect of the water splashing is diminiished by the water clinging to the sides of the glass.. I do like the blue stem with the blue balls. The lighting could be improved considerably. Look at sites dealing with product marketing photography for ideas.

For a gardener, this is a wonderful shot. A pruned branch, a combination of old and new oranges, the canopy of leaves, and the diffused light. An 8, as you were unable to find a composition that brought all of the parts together.
