red on pinkby jan5500Comment: Nice composition and framing here. IMHO the pink background is too similar to the flower in tonality to really make the contrast 'pop'. Setting this shot up with a higher contrast color may have emphasized the theme more. The lighting also seems a tad harsh on the flower with some shadows and underexposed areas. Just my opinion, nice shot nonetheless |

After the rainby whiteroomComment: Inspiring landscape you've captured here. I love the deep DOF and detail throughout. Curious to see your lens and camera settings at the end of this challenge. The high contrasts and interplay of lighting and shadows really give this an almost storybook feel. IMHO the shot looks slightly tilted CCW. Not sure if this is just a result of using a wide angle lens? Also not sure if that vignetting around the edges and corners is intentional, but it works well for me regardless. Just my opinion, nice shot nonetheless.... 8 |

Odd One Outby cfischlComment: Love this shot. It has a very contemporary/artistic quality to it. The DOF and shadows from your lighting setup also add dimension and interest to the shot. Nice subtle answer to this challenge.... 8 |

Sour Skittlesby beautyqn25Comment: Nice textures and colors here. Maybe a shallower DOF to add more dimension to the shot would have added to the photo? |

Scarlet Ibisby sulamkComment: Very interesting bird. It really 'pops' from the earthy background. The branch in the foreground also gives this a more natural/candid feel. |

A sprinkle of sprinklesby burtctComment: I like your creative composition and lighting here. The blurred elements also add a kinetic feel to the shot. One thing that I find distracting is the patterned background. Perhaps a white or black setting to really emphasize the color contrasts would have added to the shot? Just my opinion, nice shot nonetheless.... 7 |
