Keeping Paceby elee3009Comment: A truly captivating image. My only concern is that portion at the extreme left of the image which I personally would have cropped out as I find it distracting.
This image should fare very well in this challenge. Good luck. |

Not So Still Lifeby NeilComment: Best image I have seen so far. This almost borders on impressionism, and has a Shapiro quality to it. Don't know who Shapiro is... visit his profile on DPC... a truly gifted photographer who is reknowned for this genre of images. |

On the Beachby talmyComment: The blur in this image is not all that evident, and your score may suffer for it. |

Abandonedby liltritterComment: This is truly a captivating image. The child's expression and the way she looks are perfect for your interpretation of the challenge theme. Very well done, and I do hope you do well. |

Daddy Didn't Visit....Againby neenee1999Comment: Some images truly do tell a story... and this is one of them.
You have managed to depict the dejection and loneliness associated with parental neglect. The dejected mood of the child, replete with hunched shoulders, coupled with the ambience brought upon by the lights... all of these truly lend themselves to a feeling of "Desolation".
Very well done, and well deserving of a high score. Good luck to you. |

End of the worldby KelliComment: I have no idea how this was done, or what it is meant to depict. Does it depict "Desolation"...Possibly, but I do not believe this will score all that well. Good luck to you. |

Beyond Understandingby nards656Comment: While it is possible that the image could be interpreted as conveying a sense of "Desolation"... it could also be representative of the results of a Friday Night "Binge".
The harshness of the lighting would seem to suggest that the image was taken at High Noon, and the dark shadows at the bottom portion of the image effectively obliterate any definition that may have existed.
Keep shooting... practice it is said ... makes perfect. |

Shatteredby snafflesComment: The lighting, cropping, composition, and subject matter are all rather bland, with the ensuing results being that this image with not fare well in this challenge.
Keep plugging away, for it is only through time, effort and dedication that we can ever hope to improve. |

"You May Be Lonely in a Crowd"by tfarrell23Comment: I am truly having a great deal of difficulty in finding "Desolation" in this image. There is no Grief, Sadness, Loneliness, Devastation or Ruin visible in this image. Similarly, one could never consider the "Big Apple" a barren wasteland...hence my dilemma.
This is indeed a nice image, but you find that the voting public might vote it down a tad for not meeting the challenge criteria. |
