Looks like a "snapshot" rather than a composed picture.
Perhaps it's just because the girl is in the background.
Maybe if she wasn't there, it wouldn't have that "snapshot" feel to it. |

But the candle is difficult to make out.
I can see the flame, but maybe a bigger whiter longer candle would have been more impactful? |

Our Futureby jeroweComment: I just thought of a good way of maybe doing this better.....
Take a picture of the girls face, then get her to hold the flag over her face and take that picture.
then, when you cut out the flag to layer over her face, it "should" contor nicely to the shape of her face.
Understand what I'm saying? |

and a well choosen crop.
the only negative is that the focus seems to be a little soft on the eyes.
I think that in a portrait this close, then the eyes have to be really crisp and clear.
