Back-Street Orangeby peeceeComment: I spotted this photo right away when I began voting. In my view, it is exceptional. It's not exactly your happy happy shot that might do well here. But it has a very strong composition. I like the busy top half juxtaposed with the empty bottom half ... sort of a life and death image. The color works very well. It feels late and lonely on the street ... like I'd want to be indoors where it is warm and bright. The focus and deep DOF is terrific. In the end ... all the technicalities are virtually perfect. But it's better than that ... it conveys deep emotional impact. My top pick! |

Big Headby incubusComment: Clevr idea. Background detracts significantly IMO. |

Body Partby kevrobertsonComment: I suppose you chose the focus on purpose but I prefere photos where something is in sharp focus (deduct points). It draws my eye and helps me extract meaning from it. The photo feels unbalanced to me, with a bit too much dark space on the right (deduct points). The red color adds drama and makes for a more emotional feel (add points for emotional impact). |

A sad horseby mannjuditComment: I like the focus and composition. Bit too much post processing for my taste but it's only my opinion. |

Part of 1 all of 2by fotodudeComment: I suspect no photo of a dictionary definition will ever do well here unless there is something else going on. In this case, I see the disctionary page as "part" of the frame. Add points for creativity. The words (and the page itself) look flat. Not enough here to hold my interest (deduct points). And the title is confusing (deduct points). I'm relatively new at this so these are just opinions. Sorry to seem negative. |

Boat Deckby BudComment: This was a good thumbnail but the full size image lets me down. Focus is fine. Color makes my teeth hurt. Composition doesn't stimulate my interest. Sorry to sound negative. |

a boy wathing somthing from the glassby AsadComment: My problem with this photo is the focus. I can't really find anything in sharp focus. If the boy's eyes were sharply focused, for example, it would raise this 3 or 4 points for me. |

Elephantby cabaComment: This is extraordinary. The contrast really reveals the texture of the skin. Composition is terrific. Color conveys to me a quiet wisdom with an edge of sadness to it. This gives it a lot of emotional punch. A top ten for sure and one of my top picks this challenge. |

Emptynessby a1leyez0nm3Comment: I especially like the constrast between foreground and background. Very start. Almost surreal. I like that the background sky is varied and not just one blown out white space. It feels like you've rotated the image. If so, it was a good choice. If not, it was well captured as is. Great job. Among my top picks. |

Spiraling Upwardby sharveyComment: Right place, right time. Well captured. Strong composition. Colors might use a little more saturation. A bit more contrast would make it pop. All IMHO. Among my top picks. |
