Political Gluttonyby njsabsComment: The adorableness of this puppy -- Australian Shepherd? -- undermines the sharpness of the satirical message, but in no way does it detract from the pleasure of looking at this picture. It's now a lighthearted jab, which is fine. The white background lends a sweet simplicity to it. Dog's got my vote. |

The Queen Eats Firstby yakatmeComment: Unflinching image of the pecking order of power and rapaciousness. Perhaps it's due to the somber implications of the title, but these ospreys (?) are particularly unappealing. She's hooding her food from the powerless masses, to extend the metaphor, who look rather scraggy. Nicely detailed and composed, and though the presence of her entire left wing might have been nice, it also might have detracted from the compactness of the picture. |

Dark Council by Alex_PetriniComment: Well-lit image that conveys the sense of Lucifer as politician, amid his dark coterie of acolytes. Draped in bling --- good touch. I feel that we are getting a truer picture than politicians prefer to present. Too bad his acolytes don't look more grim. |

Live TV Debateby LydiaComment: The word seems trite, but when I say that this is a cute image I mean that I smile, enjoy it and also appreciate its cleverness. The background mirrors the self-serving backgrounds so often seen at events controlled by the promoter. I like how amicably this debate is proceeding. The only thing that might be altered, to be picky, is to have the "Minimal" debater drinking water. |

protect and serveby PennyStreetComment: Sharp political commentary. Wonderful juxtaposition of this young child and the whole looming security apparatus. Furthermore, the wires ensnare and ensnarl him. I remember when we used to talk about the repressive spying of the commies on their own citizens. Good to see that the ecumenical spirit of democracy has embraced its former bete noire. |

pot politics poster (child)by tvsometimeComment: I like this gentleman's direct, if watery, gaze. He's right out there, expressing himself, filling the frame. I also appreciate the hint of an American flag gripped in his right hand. Black and white works well here. And if he feels like a snack later on, that 'LEGALIZE' sign looks like it's printed on the cover of some Jiffy Pop. |

Preparing to Canvassby xianartComment: Beautifully captures the mood of local (I'm guessing) politics. The skewed angle suggests informality. The smiling faces and Canadian flag suggest a lack of vein-throbbing extremists. Lucky you. |

Appetiserby eyesunComment: High class political satire. Perfect depth of field, balanced composition. A well-put-together morsel, maybe a bit calorie rich. |

same as it ever was....by LoViComment: The heavy grain works well in this stark image. Though I haven't figured out the meaning in this picture, I'm sure it's just escaped me because the scene seems heavy with intimation. That bird pointing elsewhere to the arriving bird is a delicious capture. Very satisfying. |

Man, 'tis difficult to see past the camoflageby herfotomanComment: Succinct depiction of the predatory nature of politics behind the camouflage. Nicely caught prayer posture, further underlining the sanctimonious attitude in which some politicians cloak themselves. I also like that the mantis is kind of half lit, ready to pull back into the shadows. |
