the long way homeby mariucaComment: The subtly hinted at vanishing point in the next car is a grace note in this tender portrait of a woman resting either at the end of the day or at its beginning. In counterpoint to the sense of calm here is, as anyone who's ridden a subway knows, all the clattering noise and shaking of the train. A winning, excellent image. |

non stopby RobskiComment: My favorite of the several fine railroad tracks entries. The light show adds a dazzling fullness and emphasis to the strong vanishing point. The light-burst to the left is also lovely. The unpeopled station in the night gives the viewer a feeling of private privilege in seeing this marvel. |

Into the Woodsby markwileyComment: A haunting invitation to another land or dimension, and so it's appropriate that the implied vanishing point is shrouded in darkness. The sharpness and detail lend great immediacy. The parallel rows of trees add additional resonance. A finely balanced composition. Impressive. |

What's The Point?by EstimatedEyesComment: Skyscrapers can be made to look this way, but this particular one affords visual pleasure on several levels. The mass of the building reaches a vanishing point, and so does the curious facade. With the addition of the massive base it looks like an enormous fish. And it's enjoyably dizzying. Furthermore, great title. |

Seven Mile Bridge by Ja-9Comment: Excellently embodies the spirit of the challenge. The diminishing arcs of the bridge and the spaces in the guard rail are object lessons. The textural combination of sea, bridge and sky is a pleasure to look at. Great choice of black and white. So very nicely done. |

Road Tripby FotoMunkiComment: Sleek and elegant but not at all fussy. And a nicely hooked vanishing point. Waves of disparate but harmonizing layers roll in towards the viewer, in very subtle procession.Fresh and calm. I also appreciate the generosity of area allowed the sky and shoulder. |

Mountain pathby franktheyankComment: The long, gradually narrowing path in this excellent black and white ever so patiently unwinds until it crosses a gap in the mountain. It's a paean to the simple vastness of the West. As if this isn't enough, there are glorious storm clouds overhead, and a storm indifferently raging off to the right. It speaks to me and is going into my favorites |

Forgotten Alleyby MargaretNetComment: What I love here are the delicate forest colors, the intricate detail and the filigree interlacing of the tree branches. The quality of mood is somehow -- whether by wonderful location or technical artistry -- removed a bit from realistic to enchanted. It certainly is beautiful. Though, like many entries, this is more a matter of convergence and implied vanishing point rather than actual vanishing point, it's my favorite of the challenge because of its aforementioned beauty and mystery. The more I look at it the more I enjoy it. |

Organicby franktheyankComment: Lovely aerial photograph of Levittown. Okay, it's a leaf. But it's a fine example of how one pattern can suggest something completely otherwise. In its own right, it's a splendid evocation of beauty in decay.
Or are those toxic waste dumps. |
