Charming portrayal of happiness amidst what looks like, to Western eyes at least, scruffiness verging on dilapidation. Beautiful boy, dog peacefully napping on the unpaved rectangle of dirt and a satisfying happenstance background. Quite fetching.

I like the spookiness combined with the abundance of light. Also, the cross-shaped telephone poles in the distance are a fine, subtle touch.

The trees are sprightly, the clouds are lovely and the moon adds visual punctuation, but what lifts this image into a higher order of beauty is the very satisfying color combination -- blue and yellow with touches of white and dark.

I like this image so much but don't think I can fully elucidate why -- there's a lot of fugitive beauty here. A lush spareness that so suits the black and white presentation. Shadows and figures, perspective, delicate lines that are reminiscent of a stark Miro painting. Quiet. Masterfully composed. A lesson in seeing. My second favorite.
