6.3 by patchesComment: OK, 6.3 I'm torn here. On the one hand it's a terrific portrait of a fine looking dog. On the other hand it feels a bit artificial, though I can't pinpoint exactly why. |

Also, I enjoy when something sparks a recognition of something else that is otherwise entirely different -- here, the American flag. |

Mmmm.. How much shall I get? 6 ????by WessamComment: 6.7 This egret is striking striding across a parfait landscape. A modern graphic sensibility is at work here.
A subjective thought -- if the picture were cropped at the left to exclude at least the ship on the horizon then the bird would be less centered, and so more dynamic. |

The composition and the procession of planes lending depth are well-handled. I especially like how the aforementioned procession goes from small in the foreground to huge in the background (not counting the sky) -- birds, people, smaller rocks, larger rocks, and jutting headland.
.1 subtracted for sensor dust relic in the sky. |

Ambush - 4.2by rooumComment: 7 The very pretty blue corrugated metal framing and like-colored wooden door placed smack dab in the stone wall are quite appealing. Then there are the two trees, one right in front of the outwardly opening door. What's that about, or is it just a matter of perspective? Curiously, the entire blue section looks like it can travel to the left on a metal railing track. And why are the trees so pruned? A fun mystery. |

6by JudiComment: 8 There's a lovely muted quality to the terrain and the sky's colors are beautifully modulated, orange and blue. The foreground hill nicely anchors the image. That it's centrally split along the horizon doesn't seem to matter because the clouds offer continuity as they echo the mountains. |

Loneliness and exhilaration. A door opening into the rest of your life.
My favorite in this challenge. |
