Touch the skyby AmmieComment: Humongous invasion of a cloud mass, rushing forward, maw open and eye ablaze. Impressive sense of implacable nature, of human insignificance. Beautiful definition and color. |

Forebodingby Bear_MusicComment: Lovely tones and colors billowing over the lightly positioned trees. Yes foreboding, but there's a sense of the transitory peeking through from behind. Exciting and well done.
Personal second-favorite of the challenge. |

Sailors take warningby wildirisComment: A trumpet fanfare of color, tooted by the sun. Must be awe-inspiring to be in its midst. What I really like is the orange reflection broken into a fluid mosaic. Strong image. |

Sky Fallby ErinKirstenComment: Maybe it's hard to see the sky for the snow, but we're looking up and it's mesmerizing. The trees in the foreground are hardly more than a suggested smudge, but all the more powerful and moving for that. And the middleground a merest vapor up halfway into the scene. This tender minimalism is, to me, beautiful.

Natural Curveby ErinKirstenComment: Curves upon curves, a splendid fanfare. One might see this as a fine botanical illustration, or take it in the wind, its buoyant freedom heedless of being anchored to its place in the world. What more can one need? |

..... and a photobomber!by rozComment: Lovely curves, a fiesta primed for St. Patrick's Day. A photobomber? More like a scene-stealer. The fly's eyes nicely echo the leaves. Is such beauty transitory, or rather a matter of attention? Stellar response to the challenge. |

Capital S by PaulComment: Shift one's vision from this glorious, tingling hyper-reality and you might see an abstract of textures and luminous gashes, an urban pelt. So very much here, neither shy nor apologetic. The very angle of perspective is dizzying. Black and white is a choice that makes it happen, a meticulous etching that, without a camera, could take years to accomplish. Like an Escher without the trickery. Tour de force.

The Living & the Dead (Pines & Algae)by Bear_MusicComment: Personal favorite.
The colors, and in combination, the composition and the textures are wonderful. There's a sort of symphonic flow to it, as it moves to a crescendo of exciting visual contrasts. The trees and other flora are clear as such, yet almost tease abstract with reality, and vice versa. I'd enjoy this on our wall. |
