genie? nopeby mariucaComment: Lovely colors, idea and presentation of the glass jar. Looks like the flame is riding piggyback on the wick, trudging along in the far north before the Aurora Borealis. |

becoming oneby rozComment: I gave this an 8, Roz, my highest mark. The light imbues every part of the image with sparkling, enthusiastic life. I love how the tree and the side of the building play together -- it's as if the tree is trying to draw the building into dancing. It's a joyful interplay. I like the grassy expanse which spreads throughout. It's a lovely photograph.
My theory about why it hasn't received a higher result is that some people felt that it didn't have sufficient "building." Their literal threshold wasn't met. My personal opinion is that such an approach is narrow-minded and tosses away many fine images that merely include the challenge subject in a larger whole. In other words, artistry is given short shrift. So likewise regard these marks with a shrug of the shoulder and a soupcon (with that squiggle under the c) of pity. |

Smooth Waterfallby JuliBocComment: Last one, and what a beauty! The trees and rocks crowd around this gentle waterfall that brings a great sense of serenity. The little lines -- leaves, fish? -- reveal a languorous swirl in the pool and, for me, this is the beating heart of the image. I love the depth of field. Are you this close to Eden?

stopped conversationby mariucaComment: Of all your images that talk to me, hungry-wise, this sings out. Your idle play has come up with a delightful design. Artistry bubbles up unbidden. The setting is likewise appealing. I'm glad you stopped to photograph this, and wonder if it gave the busboy any joy. |

Cutting a Dealby GermaineComment: A happy assortment of colors and a compact, pleasant scene combine, along with lovely processing that imbues the image with an inner glow, to form a peaceful, normal moment. And that's enough, and this doesn't in the least under esteem it, to cheerfully carry it off. My favorite touch is the person working in the background. |

bird dog and babyby rozComment: Plainly you're the sun, the moon and the stars to her. A very original style of portrait, the kind of casual interaction that, all told, day after day, is the sum of childhood and being a Mom. Your arm must have become stretched out from changing so many diapers. I'm looking forward to seeing her grow. |

Undersideby jomariComment: A combination of the Painted Desert, in Arizona, and the lunar surface. Beautiful range of tones. It's fascinating to see the blue and rust-orange intergrade across the sort of no man's land. As I look more closely, the swirls and speckling just get more and more absorbing. And is there another landscape below this one? A worthy addition to your series. |

Mar 29 - Gingerby hajekaComment: Lovely combination of colors. And how'd that golden layer at the glass bottom come to be? It reminds me of a crowded aquarium. The harmonious background, modestly carbonated, is the final touch to this refreshing image. |

it's curtains for youby skewsmeComment: This is my out and out favorite of the challenge. Fabric before a window transmuted into stained glass. The colors are terrific, a torrent of rich blue and honey. The light behind the window is like a heartbeat, bearing life and sustenance. Abiding in a home of imagination and wonder. Nine. |
