Congratulations, Lydia, for ribboning (this sense of the word isn't accounted for in the various online dictionaries, though it seems apropos for our purposes) with this fine image. I like that we can see its ephemeral nature, as its new incarnation is being born. Also, the road across the way does acknowledge continuity.

Works, as they say, on so many levels. The blockage is enormous and seems to be actively devouring mid-Manhattan. Steam, if that's what it is, and sunlight have opened an additional front in the assault. This is all to say that this big mess has a life of its own. The signs and faceless traffic light add additional emphasis. But out of this tumult is an eventual cohesiveness that sings of the city and its own strain of madness. Finally, the old joke is invoked "How do you get to Carnegie Hall?" "Practice, practice, practice." Which summons up the final impediment, your own willingness to make the effort, even granting that the talent exists. Exciting and boisterous, a fine image.
Personal favorite of the challenge.

There are those runners in the distance rounding the bend in the road, and the tantalizing hint of of many more to come. And of course they are "distance" runners. Lovely lines, rhythm and composition, simple artistry at its best. Terrific image. My eight, should have gone higher.
So vastly underappreciated it merits special notice for its distance from the head of the pack.

Wonderful sense of mood. Noticing such moments lights up the world, as if it needs our assistance, but for us morals.

Lovely sunset (I'm supposing) image. A bit prosaic, but I like the framing.

Did he score? Handsome sepia image, so iconic in America, and timeless. The people on the other side of the stadium are perfectly tiny, as drawn in countless paintings and cartoons. My seven should have been higher.

Lovely picture, light and sky. Don't know why, but I get a sense of longing from this image.
