Terrific dynamic resonance in this seemingly minimalist image. We wonder what each of them are feeling. Seems like a lot going on, but how can we really know. The background of dried grass seems incidental, though I feel its sweep of tones and textures is a fitting and understated stage for this quiet drama, this foray into growing up. Nicely and simply balanced. Her red pants and his red socks tie it together.

Fortunately, this kind of image is universal, love for a child, an outburst of joy. This is sweet and endearing, and a privilege to see. The dynamic composition and movement greatly contribute to the strength of the picture. In black and white there are no colorful distractions. Strong and uplifting.

What they said. Seen many photos of the Golden Gate Bridge. Beauty and majesty are well represented, whereas this take is besotted with mystery and mood, the dim of night. If they lived in SF, this is the bridge that Sam Spade and Philip Marlowe would cross. Wonderful spiky cables and gleaming patch of the bay. And the grain, a wash of minor tones. Memorable.
