001by daisydavidComment: Home. For me, this essay is about home. Yours looks comfortable, warm and inviting. I like your POV, use of lines, and of course the dogs. Always a treat to see summer photographs while we going through winter here in the US ;-)
You ever think of adding words to your essays? Not that they are needed but I'm always interested in the choices we make. The diversity in story telling technique is a very attractive aspect of this genre. |

December Photo Essay: Reflecting on Automobilesby jomariComment: Your essay reminds me of Australia. Sure I've never been there but you've capture the tones and light I would expect. With the warped reflections you've turned an auto show into a funhouse of mirrors. The cars of today just aren't as photogenic as they were in the 70's and earlier. Must have been a treat to be surrounded by the beautiful lines, colors, and of course chrome. Nice addition to the December photo essays. Thanks |

Protectedby MargaretNetComment: Beautiful collection of images and very well presented. It's a seamless experience that flows along peacefully. For me, the first picture sets the tone and then we go along for the ride. I think you accomplished what you set out to create and should be proud of your finished product.
My only criticism is that it's to predictable for me to come back and watch again and again. I'd enjoy revisiting the individual images, at my own pace, but not the video. This has more to do with me than your essay. I wasn't challenged or given opportunities to question what you presented. I couldn't bring myself to press pause and break the rhythm.
I hope you'll continue to contribute to this side challenge. Thanks |

stick and water bottleby 2mccsComment: Marla, your essay description confirms what I enjoy about this collection. While capturing these images you let it happen. You didn’t force or follow a rigid procedure and it shows. Your photographs are delicate and free. Even the processing doesn’t try to manipulate these into something they are not.
I have not ventured into the genre of photography but your essay has me thinking. Thanks |

happening.DSCF9279.20140802by mariucaComment: Lovely find and capture. The workers white shirt and collection of eggs get my attention. I wish there was a third element that competed with these other two. Not sure this makes sense but something about 3 when composing an image. The person in the back right could potentially work but he's not a key element in your presentation. Any more room to the right or left? I like this this photograph and at the same time feel it could be better. The broken eggs are spectacular but something about the composition isn't working for me. |

what we leave behindby NeatComment: I know there is depth here but you've made this scene flat. Love it! Didn't enter this challenge and wasn't going to vote but you've changed my mind. Thanks |

Autumn Ripplesby PangurbanComment: I was coming back to look through a few images from the November Free Study and noticed something unusual. In your voting breakdown you have a double peak. More 5's and 7's than 6's. I don't remember seeing this before, have no idea what it means, but find it fascinating. Score isn't everything but voting patterns are interesting. |

where the sky endsby posthumousComment: Don, this is brilliant stuff! Pure seeing and genuine photography. Love the subtle tilt, noise, slightly off center composition, and hints of detail in the dark negative space. Thanks for retaining the look and feel of an actual photograph. |
