fractured-1by 2mccsComment: So we both did travel essays for August. Mine is a traditional collection of images captured along the way. Yours, much more interesting than mine, seems to be about creativity more than air travel. You found a way to pass the time and in doing so created a beautiful essay. The warped and stretched reflections on the floor remind me of a funhouse of mirrors. |

tango.1by mariucaComment: Delightful with a surprise ending. Your tribute to the tango flows very naturally with nothing forced. Makes me want to listen to Libertango by Astor Piazzolla. Very nice! |

1by herfotomanComment: Glimmering, grainy, high contrast, black and white photographs make up the first half of your essay. This presentation simplifies and flattens your subjects. The second half, washed over by blue shade, takes us to another place. You leave us in the shadows where it's cool and lonely. I feel each image it's trying to communicate something but it's a language i don't understand. It's amazing how toning and presentation can change the feeling of a photograph. Cleverly done. Thanks |

what's real.1by mariucaComment: As photographers, we continually question while trying to see. The more clues we uncover the more curious we become. I'd argue the act of capturing an image is closer to reality than the end result. A photograph might look like reality but it̢۪s only a piece of a brief moment in time. It is flat, silent, has no odor, ignorant of everything outside the frame, and sometimes colorless. Are photographs even capable of representing reality? In essay format we get closer but reality can't be held and studied.
Enjoyable collection of natural overlays. |
