I'm not sure how I feel about the framing. It adds more of the same color and detracts from the unusual coloring of the twig and cone. The composition otherwise is strong and interesting. The papertowel (?) background would be a touch better if it was in softer focus (it's texture competes in some way with your main subject)

I like the clean lines, the position of your subject, the B&W treatment, doesn't strike me as over PSed (little jaggy on lower left lip),meets my criteria for a 6-7 (a mundane item that looks more interesting to me than when I see it day-to-day). Since I don't know which shot you did enter - hope that feedback helps in some way.

Yep, this is what this contest is all about. Mundane item but you've made it interesting (at least to me); punchy color, abstract shape yet still enough of the handle to tell what it is. One of my pick for a ribbon

like that I can make out Orion's belt - would have liked to see more stars. Dramatic composition and good use of negative space. Chair seems a bit fuzzy?

would have took me a whie to figure this one out. Defineately improved the interest of this mundane item. To make this a bit better: suggest a smaller width border (seems to draw my eye away vs. create a boundary) overall well done
