I love both techniques and this is a great example of how well it can work.
Blending the skin tones into the background ..making the subject appear to emerge from the light is something I really like to see. The blue tones in the eye just help to add impact to the overall package. Great composition into the bargain.
I really hope this does well as it deserves to....10

Nice "Moody Blue" theme to this..a very relaxing pic which would make a good poster. I particularly like the gradiation in tones.A little less sky would make it perfect for me.

A tighter crop of just the big door and the small "window" type door to the right against the plain background but including the wooden lintels, would give it more impact for me. Nice pic though..good luck...7
