Black, White & Neonby sinnerComment: This picture is creative to the theme. But a bit boring and underexposed to me. Cats are not the best "neon" creatures in the world. If you want to show the glowing eyes, a good way was to get close enought to reveal only the cat´s face, like a portrait, in a better light condition. |

Drinksby diegomcnamaraComment: Great color cast. Nice idea. I think that is will be more appealing with less black in it. |

A lot of people wanted to know how I did this, and it really isn't complicated. Thinking back to a science class demonstration, I remembered the "colored shadows" effect. So I set up a quick test, and when I saw that it would work, I started thinking about the "creative" aspect (the key part to most challenges, in my opinion) of what to have make the shadows. I eventually thought of using flowers that matched the colored shadows, but was reluctant because of the possible "another flower shot" backlash... but I decided to do it anyway because I couldn't think of anything better. =] So I made a quick trip to the grocery store (where I had seen these multi-colored daisies in the past) and bought the flowers. I shot with the lights in several different locations, but I settled on this composition for my entry.
(I'm glad this was a "Basic Editing" challenge, or I'm sure some voters would have assumed this effect was created in Photoshop!)
I found this web page which explains the colored shadows phenomenon for anyone interested. |
Hi Eddy;
Congrats to your ribbon. It was well deserved.
I´m curious about your link. This is broken to me. |

A Way To Goby GPComment: Very good exposed. I like the shadow details and the color contrasts. You drive your dynamic range to the top. |

Back to the futureby bormicComment: Try to remove some magenta using selective color in PS. This will help you with this purple fringing. A nice shoot, overall. |
