Faux Autumnby WonderDudeComment: Greetings from the Critique Club!
What a beautiful location indeed! I am always a sucker for tree-lined roads or trails, so it is rather fitting that your image wind up with me (and for my first critique too!).
The road and lines of trees definitely draw the eye to the sun and illustrate that you did meet the challenge criteria for contre-jour. The backlight from the sun lends a warm glow to the vibrant autumn colors and the blue sky helps balance out what might have been a whole lot of orange. Iâm not a huge fan of the sun-spot-circle, as its size and opacity are a bit distracting from the overall scene. Yet, there is something appealing about that full circle ⦠maybe itâs a portal to another dimension?
In terms of the âfaux autumnâ processing ⦠overall it seems to work well. I am wondering if the processing might have compromised some of the details though. Some of the grass and leaves on the left look a little chunky to me but that could also be an effect of the bright light from the sun. Just an observation as this does not detract much from the shot at all. Nicely done! If you need me, Iâll be following the road off into the sunset.

Do you wanna sit here?by DanaSComment: Last year my weird photo quirk was capturing images of empty benches. This is great! Wish I had thought of a dutch angle approach. My favorite in this challenge.

Come out and playby wejnaComment: Okay that is way creepy... Nice work! I love how the gold is framed by the black and the silhouette allows light to shine through. |

balancing actby PennyStreetComment: This picture keeps pulling me back ... I love how the branches reach to the sky. A bit like they are battling to catch up with and overtake the concrete demons. Nice perspective and (of course) balance. My favorite in this challenge.

My kingdom by AmmieComment: I loved this entry in the technically flawed challenge and was hoping to see the "final" pick. Beautiful! The details, layers of interest and colors truly captivated me. And what a gorgeous king! |

noise thiefby mrbig65Comment: Just returned from a long weekend trip where a number of these little guys kept us entertained at meals. This is perfect imperfection! You've got the thieves casing the prize up close and personal and the reflection of the second will help identify him later when the authorities digitally enhance the picture. My favorite in this challenge.

Arizona Sunsetby just_meComment: I love the layers and the vibrant colors. The one purple cloud looks a bit like it could be some kind of creature walking across the hills. My favorite in this challenge.

For Waterby AmmieComment: Love the simplicity here as well as the tie in with the title. Just a little bit of water and we get fertile versus brown fields. My favorite in this challenge.
