the lone sailorby MiahComment: I'm afraid I can't really tell what this is a picture off. It says lone sailor but.. I'm not seeing anything sailory. I can't determine what that thing is in the middle, I'm sure its painfully obvious but my eyes don't seem to be picking it up. I do like the colors, it gives a feeling of movement. I would give a higher score though if I could understand the image - its very much lost on me. 3 |

Solitary Beautyby SimplicityComment: The colors are very vivid, which I like. Nice lighting. The subject however I find a little unappealing. It seems like the flower is wilted or something. Maybe that's the effect of the water. Also, I think a larger expanse of blue with the flower floating in a corner or even in the middle would amplify the alone/solitary feeling more. The close crop diminishes that feeling for me. 4 |

Left Outby KonadorComment: Nice example! I like the focus, the left out guy is clearly the main subject. I do wish the standing fellow behind the net was a bit more blurred though. Use of available light is pretty good. I like the black & white aspect of the piece, though it doesn't look truly black & white to me. Well done. 7 |

A Treeby yeamg4Comment: Fantastic image. The colors are great, I love silhouettes. Excellent lighting and the composition is perfect for the feeling of solitude/all alone. There seems to be a bit of softness near the tree - doesn't have a completely sharp line, but perhaps that's from resizing? Great shot, both as a challenge submission and stand alone. 10 |

Playing with lightby TavaszkaComment: A nice image! Very simple, yet it pulls off the alone aspect of the challenge very well. I like the way the lighting is set up, is there additional lighting from above or is it all the candle? I wish there was a bit more focus, but overall it the photo is excellent. 8 |

"the LAST NuTby tfarrell23Comment: Great detail & focus, the textures are very evident. Good lighting, and the color difference between the peanut shell and the skin thing is nice. I think the border is a little too much, and I'm not sure, but I think I'd like the image better without the empty shells on the left. I see it there as a backstory to help show the peanut is the last one but I think that is done well just by having the single peanut in its shell on the right. Just my thoughts though. Very nice image. 8 |

Outcastby gandersComment: Pretty clearly fits the challenge. I like the colors, I also like the fact that the excluded candy doesn't match any of the others shown. Lighting looks good as does focus. 7 |

The Valley of the Cornby fsieradzkiComment: A nice different subject. I like the focus, great detail. Corn looks mighty interesting all close up. The lighting is great, really helps reflect the title. Very nice. 7 |

Provided By Natureby puyaComment: I like the scenery and I love the light rays, but the lens flares are a little distracting. As I was scrolling down to see the whole piece, I found that I really liked the light effect if the sun part was cropped out with just the rays coming in and hitting the ground. All in all it has a nice impact on me, did I mention I love the light rays? ;) 7 |

Eggby SMW409Comment: Interesting. I'm not sure the significance (if there is any) of the white eggs all being broken/used. I think the contrast in color very well separates the brown egg and creates that all alone aspect. It is of course got the second layer of being the only intact egg too - perhaps that was what you were going for (if a deeper meaning is there I confess I missed it!). I like the lighting, I'm not sure if I'd prefer it highlighting the different nature of the brown egg, or if its exclusion of the brown egg putting it in the shadows is better, they both work nicely. I do wish the focus was a bit sharper though. Well done. 7 |
