Lighting is good, and the scenery has interest to it. Pose of the subject projects the all alone and solitary feeling. Good focus. I do wish the overall tone of the image was a bit brighter, so the colors were more vivid. Very nice. 7

Great emotive photo. Use of light and black & white is wonderful. Focus is good, I like the composition of the piece. There does seem to be some odd color wave affect on the walls, possibly from resizing. Great image. 8

An interesting idea. I like the perspective, especially that the subject is in focus instead of the hands. I don't necessarily get a solitude or lonely feeling from the image, but I like the originality of it. Colors are vivid, nice use of natural light. 7

Beautiful color in the leaves, it really draws the eye. I also like the contrast between it and the not so healthy looking pot in front. Focus is good but the lighting is very distracting with the large glare and lens flares. Other than the color of the leaves, the photo is a bit flat to me, doesn't draw me in very well. A good snapshot. 5

A different image. The color of the sky is nice and contrasts with the color of the figure. I'm not sure that it emotes a loneliness or solitude for me though it is all alone. The lighting looks good. Its a solid photo technically, but I am not drawn in, it has little interest for me the viewer. Also, might want to crop or clone out the items at the bottom (post challenge of course). 5

I love this image. Fits the challenge generally (I don't get a feeling of solitude or loneliness) but I think its wonderful. The colors are glorious, I love the detailing and excellent focus. The lighting is perfect, the leaf looks translucent, how was that achieved? A leaf frozen in ice? Regardless its a great image. Well done. 9

Nice contrasts in this image. I do think the white is a bit harsh - I'd like it better if it was a little toned down. That said, it really sets off the subject, both her skin tone and the black burqua?. I like the long look of the photo, but would prefer it cropped a little, I think it would still hold its length well. Good composition, the girl looks alone and has a sadness to her that I can easily equate with isolation and solitude. Nice job. 7

Oh this is a lovely image. I really like all the contrasts. The lighting is perfect, really enhances the alone aspect. The marbles give an added interest with the way the light reflects off of them. Its quite beautiful. I do wish that the ones in the bottom right corner didn't show their green nature so much, and instead were dark like the others - the different color draws the eyes away from the main subject. I think its a great photo. 8

Interesting image. Took me a few moments to see the cigarette butt. I like the composition, the textures are great. Lighting looks good and the focus is decent, though I'd rather it was mostly on the cigarette so it didn't get lost in the photo. The overall image looks a bit gritty like it was oversharpened. 6

Wow, what a dramatic backdrop. I love the clouds and the mountains rising up gently. The deep landscape really brings for the feeling of alone and solitude, though the child is a bit soft focused - would rather the focus was much sharper on him/her. Nice use of sepia, though I'm wondering if it would be better as a b&w. Use of natural light is good as well. Nice job. 7
